Today we would normally have a Throwback Thursday and I had already started typing it up when a member of the Miniature Addicts Anonymous group on Facebook posted up this Kickstarter. Now for those keeping track this is the second Kickass Kickstarter of the week, Monday we covered Impact Miniatures 20 Fantasy Football teams.

Typically Models-Workshop would only run one of these a week but this one, Tabletop Towns – Cargo Containers slipped under my radar and it ends in under two days! So my choices were to put up a three year old video, that probably needs to be redone, or put up this really neat Kickstarter. The choice was an easy one.

The containers are cardboard cutouts on 260gsm folding box board and will be printed in at least six different colors. The containers will then be matte laminated to make them extra sturdy before being die cut and stamped. They measure approximately 2″ x 2″ x 4″ and are 1/60th scale or 1 inch  equals 5 feet making them perfect for 28 to 30mm scale miniatures.

Now let’s talk about cost. The lowest tier is (US prices approximate) £10/$16. 20 for 6 containers or £1.66/$2.70 each. The highest price (container only) tier is £52/$83 is for 48 containers or £1.08/$1.73 each.

As you can see the cost is minimal per container. Sure you could make your own but the material isn’t going to be as strong, they will likely not last as long due to the process these go through. Best of all in less then £100 you will get 7 per set instead of 6! So that’s 7 and 56 for the above examples!

There are also some great add-on items as well.

This is a great Kickstarter for the wargaming community and will blend well with all other terrain, can be used as objective markers, or pretty much anything you’re imagination can come up with!
