Sometimes a Kickstarter comes along that you just like a lot; the models look amazing, they have that smell of small time production, or the price is just awesome. Then you have a time when all of the above happen and you’re caught in the perfect storm of miniature goodness!
Enter Onyx, the Cursed One the current project of veteran sculptor Manuel Caterini of Italy. It’s a very simple and low budget Kickstarter (that’s already funded) that has that small batch appeal that some people love, including myself.
Size and form: Onyx is a small/medium sized bust of an undead warrior measuring approximately 50mm in bust format.
Pledges: You have 2 pledge options for Onyx by himself. A 25€ option for the model in 5 pieces or a 30€ option for an assembled bust. There are also several limited pledges that allow you to get Onyx with some of Manuel’s previous work. These pledges are limited to between 2 and 5, so don’t wait.
Shipping: 5€ for Onyx alone, slightly more possibly for a combo packs.
In closing I understand that busts are not for everyone but interest in them had been at a sharp rise over the last couple years. I think Onyx the Cursed One has the potential to appeal to both new and experienced painters. Undead models, like this, are forgiving for new painters while maintaining good details for experienced painters. At the price of €30 with shipping it is a very affordable option of you have been wanting to take a swing at a bust. This one is an easy Kickass Kickstarter.
