Hey all Larry here with a Tale from the Workshop, a rambly blog series from the members of Models Workshop! On this blog I’m  going to be talking about a box I received.

So, a friend of mine from Highschool, Wes, sent me a box of cool stuff over the weekend. Now I’m used to getting boxes from companies with promotional material, but not so much from fans and friends. This week I actually got a package from a fan too (you love us, you really really love us).

Now my friend Wes, runs a retro video game, comic books, table top, and card game shop all over the state of Kentucky via the flea market circuit, mainly out of Blowing Green, but also hitting different conventions. If you’re looking for something , you can get a good of him by calling (270) 999-0176 or emailing Wes6378@hotmail.com.

Now I had been expecting a box from him for a while, but this thing was much larger than expected, so I popped it open. The first thing I find are two packs of Pokémon cards for the boys as well as two starters of My Little Pony cards for my daughter (not pictured). These I had been expecting, he had asked about the kids and their likes.

A bit farther down was an autographed picture of Ming Chen and Mike Zapcic of Comic Book Men. Another expected item as he met them at a convention in Evansville, IN and I asked if he could get it for me.

Now the next item was totally unexpected and explained the bulk of the box. A new and sealed Master Grade Endless Waltz Wing Gundam. Now this I was confused about, but figured it was because he had heard me talk about enjoying Gundams and picked up one cheap.

Inside the shipping box was a smaller box with a very Alice in Wonderland message on the top to “Paint Please”.

Now I was totally intrigued, I figured the item in this box was going to be the pay for the goodies. So I wasted no time getting it open.

A Second Ed Ghazghkull Thraka with his trusty sidekick Makari, his grot standard bearer! How exciting, being a produxt of second edition myself, I have a soft spot in my heart for some of the old sculpts, this one being one of the better ones.

I had to laugh since he never actually asked me to do a commission for him. Not that I have an issue with it, it’s a nostalgic sculpt that looks great so I guess I’ll be working on this bad boy some.

I talk about this on the After Hours EP51!

I already removed the moldlines from the model and hit it with a base coat! More to come!
