In this video I talk about the Alpha  Abrasive #2000 Micro Finishing Cloth Abrasive Pads or as I refer to them commonly as sanding pads. If you have listened to the podcast, Models Workshop After Hours you have heard me using then quite often. They are my number one go to item while preparing all types of miniatures and models.

For the MSRP of $8.99 you get six 2in by 2in double sided pads. Each of the pads have a different grit for finer and finer sanding. You get a 3200, 3600, 4000, 6000, 8000, and 12000. As an added bonus these can also be washed to prolong their life.

The sanding pads are Abrasive cloth attached to a foam pad. These can be used both wet and dry, using them wet actually makes them last longer. The system is to start at 3200 and work your way up to the 12000. This will produce a glass smooth surface if done properly. Also because they are on a pad they can be flexed and bent around curved surfaces.

I only have two complaints with these. I wish they were available individually, even at a small markup. I tend to use the lower grits more which means they are worn out faster. I also wish they were available in lower grits starting at 2000 grit. I have another set from another company that has a 2400 and it was great.
