I just wanted to share my Larry Elmore original sketch that I finally finished having framed. I think it turned out spectacularly. Also you get to learn a bit more about me and the path I took to becoming what I am today.
I recieved this as a reward for Larry’s highly successful Kickstarter back in 2013. It was part of the reward package called Dragon Sketches. Now as you can see I did receive a dragon but a lot of the sketches where not actually dragons as I soon discovered when looking through the sketch book that was included.
I have been a fan of Larry Elmore’s for many years and he is the reason I was hooked onto fantasy when I was younger which led to my love of games and ultimately this.
His art work has graced the covers of many TSR (now Wizard’s of the Coast) books for many years. It is the three above that really pulled me in. For those that do not recognize, they are the cover art for the Dragonlance series Chronicles written by Margaret Weis and Tracey Hickman. I remember as a young boy, maybe 11 or 12 spotting these at my local library and being pulled in without even opening the cover.
Well thank you for taking the time to read my tale. Please share your story to how you started painting below in the comments. I would love to hear them as it really can play into what we really enjoy.
