A suitably dramatic voice over, akin to what you would expect from the next Wolverine trailer, introduces us to the Kickstarter from established miniatures company Zenit that seeks funding to introduce a range of larger miniatures to their Nemesis Skirmish tabletop game – The Juggers.

Nemesis is a fairly standard set of rules that covers small battles in a fantasy setting and Zenit have a range of miniatures for the game in 5 different factions and this Kickstarter is focused on providing a larger “Jugger” for each.
Also proposed are 2 new factions, Exiles and Nephalites but at first glance there seems to be little mention of them on the Kickstarter page. However the 50k goal is a “New Army Expansion: Exiles Add On” so it seems that the other faction will be along later depending on how the Kickstater goes.

On that score it seems that it will go very well as the project was funded 4 times over at the time of writing. It will certainly be interesting to see what other treasures are in store.
The project page contains very little detail on the miniatures themselves but there is a one liner stating they are metal with the Juggers being cast in resin and metal. No real indications of scale are given but reading the free to download rulebook, which is quite well presented by the way, it says the game is for “33mm” miniatures. From their main website close up images of the current range of miniatures the sculpts are of reasonable quality and detail without being a stand out. Poses are suitably heroic and/or dramatic and there is the odd bare nipple here and there.

Perhaps the most attractive component of this Kickstarter is the wide range of starter packs that are available. $US227 for a core set that includes 19 miniatures as a start point with more being added to each faction as stretch goals means you are looking at around under $US10 per mini including postage which I think works out to pretty reasonable value.
With so many offering of miniatures from Kickstarters at the moment is is very hard to decide where to spend your hard earned. If you are looking for a fresh small scale game with reasonable miniatures at reasonable prices then this one is certainly worth a closer look.
