With all the incredibly awesome models being shown at the Forgeworld Weekender it’s a good time to rehash an oldie but a goodie for our Throw Back Thursday on how to wash resin models.
I have put together dozens of Forgeworld kits ranging from troop kits to a Phantom Titan and one problem that these and other resin kits is they are typically covered in mould release. It’s normally an oil that they put in the mould to allow the resin to release from the mould easier. You can’t see it but after handling a new resin kit you can feel it on your fingers. It’s this oil that you need to remove.
I personally wash all models I get, you never know how long a model was left exposed to gather dust or other things on its surface that will mess with assembly.
It’s a quick video with a lot of useful information for you to use on how to get your new resin model ready for assembly and primer. I’m case you have missed the minatures that come out you can check them out here: Forgeworld Weekender Pictures
All you need is:
- A filter of some type, I used a strainer
- A sink or a large tub
- Some wash up liquid, I recommend with a degreaser like Dawn
- A towel to dry them on
- Some warm water
