Edit: people are asking some great questions so I’ll be adding them in as I get them.
In todays Throwback Thursday Larry talks about the uses of brass (or any other soft metal) rod and how they can be applied to Modeling. He also goes over several ways to cut them the ensure the best use out of them.

FAQ/Comments
Q: Why brass over steel?
A: Brass is easier to deal with, bend, cut, etc etc. I don’t like how rigid steel is and how rough it is to cut. I just priced brass rod, it was like $10 for 60 feet. So cost is not that different. Also it’s available in tubes which you can use to make sleeved pins, Pistons, pipes, etc. Plus it is sized exact so you know what drill bits to order for it and it fits well. Also brass is sandable if you need to take some off.
Comment from Erik: I like an almost steampunk like look to my Squat tanks and trucks, and that requires a lot of wires and antenna like things 🙂
A: Doh! Forgot about steampunk applications, +1 nerd point to Erik!
This works well with the straight line pinning tutorial found here!
