When Ben and I sat down and created Models Workshop back in 2011 it was created for several reasons. It was originally a place to put up news, rumors, tutorials, reviews, articles, and the Link-A-Dex, pretty much stuff we felt was useful to the gamers and painters out there. When we rebooted the website we decided to narrow the focus and make it specifically about miniatures and models. We removed the news and rumors section, this allowed us to focus on bringing you information specifically about miniatures and models, something we honestly felt there was a lack of.
The Link-A-Dex
The Link-A-Dex was born after spending time looking for a tutorial on the internet, it was a tedious task and I asked myself what would make it easier? If there was a list that was categorized and all laid out. Nothing like that existed so we decided to create one. I am glad neither one of us knew what we where getting ourselves into or we may have never done it. Through many hours of hard work we put together a list of around 1,300 different tutorials from all over the internet. The bad thing is this list is completely hand coded which as you can guess can take up quite a bit of time, but it was a task we married ourselves to and worked on.
It has been a couple years since the Link-A-Dex has been updated truly, this is something that I want to change in the future. I am in the hunt for a programmer to change the way the entire index is searched and inputted but until then there are still hundreds of valid tutorials on there for you to use. It was part of the page that I noticed people not going to recently that used to be the most popular part of the page. So I hope you enjoy.
If you know of a site (or own a site) that should go onto the Link-A-Dex please feel free to contact me at djinn24 at Models-Workshop.com and I will work on getting it added!
Remember you can find us at www.facebook.com/TheModelsWorkshop where we push out different things we find through out the day for you all to enjoy.
