Here it is, the 100th post on the site. Back when Ben and I started this in 2011 and then rebooted it in April that number seemed so far away. But thanks to the great team that has formed and supported Models-Workshop it has happened, and the best thing, at least to me, is this is just the beginning and we are only going to continue to get larger. Best yet the larger we become, the more information it means we get to share with you.

This road has not always been smooth. When we first formed the site in 2011 I don’t think Ben and I had any idea what we were getting ourselves into with the goals we had laid out in front of us. We tried to join the ever growing group of news and rumors sites out there tossing in a little bit of modeling and miniatures. I have no doubt that we would have become a pretty successful if we would have continued, but truthfully it’s not what either of us wanted. We wanted to run a site that was focused on models and miniatures. So we kind of let the site go dormant, but keeping it up for anyone who wanted to use the Link-A-Dex we had formed up and knocked out a good portion of.

Fast forward to April of 2014. After talking with several of my friends and people who I painted with via Skype pretty regular I decided it was time to bring back Models-Workshop. I knew this project was not going to be easy so I asked my friends to join me, because if anything I was going to need the moral support on this. The overall direction of the site was focused to pretty much miniatures and models, if it did not have anything to do with those it was not going to go on the site. We also came up with several features along the way with a few more planned out too!

Features:

The Link-A-Dex: Its why the site was created in the first place. It has not been updated in a while but I am currently exploring options to automate it a bit more and allow people to add their own links.

Beginner’s Tales: This feature has changed a few times since it first started and it has become a pretty fun and exciting weekly where we follow our resident newbie on  his path to becoming something greater.

Kickass Kickstarter: In a nutshell we go through and find what we think is the neatest, best Kickstarter out there and write up a report on it. I like to focus on independent and smaller Kickstarters to help out.

Painting Challenge: Ben’s project to try and help motivate people to get out there and paint more. It is just about ready to start it’s second month!

We have plenty of exciting things coming up in the future as well. The big thing that is holding us back now is money since the site is all self funded it means that anything that needs to be done to the site comes out of our pockets or off of donations. So eventually they will get done but it’s just going to take a bit of time, which honestly makes it better, since we really can’t rush into things!

Well folks that’s the end of the first 100, now to the next 1000!
